Oh, Angoras <3

My love of self sufficiency, gardening, crocheting while a midwife at births, and passion for "the finer things' plus a childhood love of rabbits; specifically a very special rabbit called "hop hop" created the perfect storm to create an angora rabbit lover.

I raise the rabbits, they get time in outdoor spaces and lots of handling from a young age. Every 3-4 months they get a "spa day" where they are given treats as they are sheered, nails trimmed, and any health issues attended to. I am very gentle with them and try to create a pleasant experience so they look forward to spa day, and it is not traumatic for them, or for myself. All their manure is collected and composted and is the primary fertilizer for our gardens for vegetables, herbs, medicinal herbs, and flowers.

I show Giant and Satin Angoras and feel responsible for only very intentional breedings, and raising the highest quality best temperament animals possible. I believe angora rabbits to be a very good choice for a permaculture system as they produce fertilizer, food (they are dual purpose), and one of the finest fibers in the world. They are docile and friendly pets that easily cover their costs.
